Generally made of metal they are installed just inside the chimney. The most common are metal which are available in aluminum copper and stainless steel. Typically copper chase covers are used in place of stainless steel for aeshtetic purposes. This serves two purposes. As crowns withstand a lot of abuse they need to be made out of a solid material. Most commonly chimney crowns are made of poured concrete and free from cracks and crumbling.
